DIRECTIONS - About 4 miles south of the Clovelly Roundabout on the Atlantic Highway turn off, and follow the signs for Hartland Village and Hartland Abbey.

The Abbey was founded in about 1157 and has been a family home since the 16C. Delightful house with interesting architecture. There are extensive informal gardens with woodland and coastal walks.

MORWENSTOW

 On the cliff edge at Morwenstow, take the path from the Vicarage Tea Rooms and Church, turn left on the cliff top path.

OPEN - All Year

DIRECTIONS - Turn off the Atlantic Highway 3 miles north ofKilkhampton, follow signs for Morwenstow, park near Church and Vicarage Tea Rooms. Probably the National Trusts smallest property, a wooden hut built by the Reverend Hawker etc.

PENHALLAM MANOR(Ruin)
 A 10-minute walk from the Car Park through Pine woods to the ruin.

OPEN - All Year

DIRECTIONS - Turn off the Atlantic Highway approximately 5 miles south of Bude at Treskinnick Cross, take the minor road to Week St Mary. About 1 mile before reaching Week St Mary the small Penhallam Car Park will be seen on the right hand side of the road.

A delightful wooded setting for the ruins of a Medieval Manor House surrounded by a Moat. Interpretation boards.

TINTAGEL CASTLE - "King Arthur's Castle"

DIRECTIONS - from the centre of the village walk past the Old Post Office and go down the rough track at the side of King Arthur's Bookshop to Tintagel Head. This is a steep track of about ½ mile, in the Summer there is a Land Rover passenger service.

By high cliffs in a dramatic coastline with a restless sea you will see the ruins of a castle that has inspired myths and legends for hundreds of years, below lies Merlin's Cave. Once on the island take time to think and reflect on times past, be aware of the power of the sea crashing on the rocks below, imagine...
