	click to enlarge   Polzeath has a vast expanse of sand when the tide is out, making it an ideal family beach, it is also a very popular surfing centre. There is ample car parking on the beach or just above the village, which has a number of cafes, restaurants and a few shops making this a popular 'day visit' destination.   click to enlarge Pentire Point and The Rumps The coast path going north from New Polzeath provides some spectacular views. There are paths cutting back across this headland via Pentire Farm, Pentireglaze Farm and the Old Lead Mine, this makes for pleasant and not too arduous circular walks, taking in Pentire Point and The Rumps. From New Polzeath to Port Quin, this coast is under the care and protection of the National Trust, as are the two farms and two holiday cottages. Archaeological excavations at The Rumps have revealed the existence of an Iron Age settlement. Undoubtedly, the contours and shape of the land jutting out into the sea would have made natural defences against invaders from further inland.		Advertise on this site
