A fine outlook seaward can be enjoyed in the comfort of the Coombe Barton Inn which stands on the shoreline just across the narrow coastal road from the beach. Nearby wooded valleys provide interesting walks, there are a number of circular routes which take in the wooded valleys, farmland, meadows and the spectacular coastline. Crackington haven lies at the foot of a valley, surrounded by towering cliffs, covered in bracken and gorse and species of wild flowers.
About half a mile inland, is the church of St Gennys and hamlet of the same name. The church is dedicated to St Genesius, a martyr, who is said to have carried his head under his arm after suffering decapitation. The church has a sturdy Norman tower that is one of the oldest in Cornwall, there are some interesting memorial stones to be found in the churchyard.
A few miles to the south of Crackington Haven, along the narrow, windy coast road to Boscastle, is Trevigue, a tenanted National Trust Farm. Note, the farm is not open to the public, but does have an award winning restaurant, which is open for a few evenings each week, booking well in advance essential. Nearby is Strangles Beach and the High Cliff at some 730 feet above sea level.
